Medicus is pleased to announce that SafePlay, the company’s latest solution to facilitate Covid-19 testing is completing upwards of 10,000 tests daily at a rate that is growing fast. SafePlay has been developed and deployed in partnership with Roche Diagnostics Germany and 21Dx, one of the largest operators of coronavirus test stations and mobile test teams in Germany. Since the initial launch on November 25, 2020, the number of tests processed by the platform has doubled every week.

The technology-enabled testing platform was developed and launched by Medicus in rapid response to the growing need for wider testing in combating the spread of the virus. SafePlay was initially launched to support rapid antigen testing but has evolved to support RT-PCR, qPCR, and antibody testing. Today SafePlay has been deployed at mass testing sites, private offices, and other essential venues, including multiple stores in Germany, governments, corporates and private events, as well as schools, kindergartens and retirement homes

“In building SafePlay, our goal was to create something that would improve efficiencies, reduce costs, and shorten the timelines needed to perform Covid-19 testing in a way that is intuitive for testing staff and clear for those being tested. We are very pleased with the outcome, and look forward to continuing to support testing efforts in Germany any beyond, and for RT-PCR, qPCR, and antibody tests as well,” says Rafael Vartian, one of the main initiators behind SafePlay.

“At 21Dx, we have multiple testing scenarios to consider, ranging from small to large, with both mobile and fixed stations, so it is essential to make sure we run these as efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively as possible. SafePlay’s flexibility is crucial in facilitating testing in a variety of cases, ranging from governmental mandates like elderly homes and schools, all the way to large private events or possibly travel locations,” says Dr. Beatus Buchzik, Head of Strategy and Solutions at 21Dx.

“‘Stronger together’ describes how we at Roche work on providing the tools needed for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. We are very proud that we could support our partner Medicus AI to develop SafePlay within 12 weeks, scaling to a very high volume in a very short time to ensure the early disruption of infection chains,” says Christian Paetzke, General Manager at Roche Diagnostics Germany.
